Grand Canyon Tours

Location

The Grand Canyon is located in the U.S. state of Arizona, largely contained by the Grand Canyon National Park.

Description

The Grand Canyon is a very steep-sided gorge that was carved by the Colorado River. This canyon is 277 miles long, and ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles. In addition, the Grand Canyon can attain a depth of more than one mile. Amazingly enough there was actually two canyons at one point in time. However, the two canyons eventually broke through to form the Grand Canyon that we know today.

History

The Grand Canyon is said to have been discovered by Spanish conquistador Francisco Vazquez de Coronado in 1540. However, many different tribes inhabited the area long before that time. Some of the people groups are of particular interest, including the Anasazi, who built amazing cliff dwellings into the sides of the gorge.

Tours To Take

A Grand Canyon tour will absolutely take your breathe away as you look over the majestic landscape of the Grand Canyon. There are three things that we recommend you get the change to do.
  1. Take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon
  2. Go on the Grand Canyon Skywalk Tour
  3. Raft through the canyon on the Colorado River.
