Niagara Falls Tours

Touring Niagara Falls is an amazing experience, that is unmatched in its majestic beauty and humbling power. You may be surprised on your Niagara Falls tour that Niagara Falls is not very tall but extremely wide. This accounts for its almost 4 million cubic feet of water fall from its crest line every minute, making it the the most powerful waterfall in North America. There are actually two main waterfalls that you can tour, Goat Island: Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side, and American Falls on the United States side. There is however, one smaller waterfall named Bridal Veil Falls, which is also located on the American side. However, it is separated from the main falls by Luna Island.

Location

These massive water falls sprawl the international border separating the Canadian province of Ontario and the U.S. state of New York.

History

Niagara Falls were formed when glaciers receded at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation, and water from the newly-formed Great Lakes carved a path through the Niagara Escarpment en route to the Atlantic Ocean. There has been much debate over the discovery of Niagara Falls. However, estimates are given that is was discovered sometime around 1604 and probably by Samuel de Champlain. Whoever originally wrote it down and circulated the story, one thing is for sure is that the Iroquois were the first inhabitants and the name Niagara actually comes from the Iroquois word "Onguiaahra" meaning "Thunder of Waters"

Tours To Take

There are many great experiences for you to enjoy your Niagara Falls tour. Dine at the top of the Falls Restaurant, walk right up to the base of the falls during the Cave of the Winds tour, or let the water fall all around you during the Maid of the Mist boat ride. However, we recommend taking our absolute favorite, the Rainbow Illumination Tour, where you will see Niagara Falls illuminate at night.
